15th May 2006 Merger with youth is agreed....press release

Clubs come together for bright new future……….

Trowbridge Town and Trowbridge Town Youth Football Clubs have agreed to merge together into a new single club.  Trowbridge have come along way since their re-birth in 1998, working with Trowbridge Town Youth, sharing their Woodmarsh ground, with young players progressing into senior football.  This new club is looking to build upon previous individual success, including building on the Youth’s FA Charter Development Club status to become a nationally recognised Community Club.

Following separate EGM’s the memberships of both clubs have formally agreed to merge into a single set-up and preparations are now in hand to take this venture forward.  Working towards formation later this year, work has already started and a number of joint decisions have already been taken.  Meetings are currently taking place between the developers of the site adjacent to Woodmarsh to provide much needed facilities. This is an exciting project, with a range of facilities including an indoor playing area. This will be a big boost to local sportspeople, and the Town. The planning application is at an advanced stage and should be submitted soon and the new joint committee are working closely with site owner Stuart Brown.

A new structure to manage adult football has been established.  Central to this is a clear policy to run the three adult teams within one cohesive arrangement.  Paul Shanley will lead a group of coaches, including Vernon Giles, Paul King, Mark Edwards, Pete Cunningham and Andy Bonser; who have agreed to work closely together to provide successful football and youth opportunity.   Playing in the Hellenic, Wiltshire and Trowbridge leagues, this collective focus will set the ethos of the emerging club, with people also working together to deliver a new club structure and the new ground.

The process of establishing the new club will take some months.  It will raise football standards as well as the expectations of many youngsters, encouraging younger support of the senior team. A joint team, drawn from both clubs, is now working together, initially considering; membership arrangements, the work required on the current limited facilities to meet fixture requirements for all our teams, and progress toward Community Club status

18th June - Trowbridge recommended for ground-hop match

Trowbridge v Winterbourne on Sunday 28th August (11.30am) has been recommended as a ground- hop match.
This should hopefully break our current crowd record of 238 that was set when Tytherington visited on a bank holiday last season.

Robin (Update: This fixture has been changed to Tytherington Rocks but is still a ground hop match)

11th June 2005 - New Ground - Statement by Chairman
"I am now able to confirm that the proposed new site for TTFC relocation is on land adjacent to the White Horse Business Park, opposite to our current Woodmarsh site.
Over the last few months, meetings have been held with reps from County Highways, Planners and the site owner, a local business man who is very supportive to our club and is a paid up member.
We have respected his request not to go public while he awaits clarification on certain issues from the planners which will give a clearer picture of our plans for the site. Further details will be announced as soon as possible."

John Fitchen
