TREASURERS REPORT
TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL
MEETING HELD AT THE WESLEY ROAD CLUB IN
TROWBR1DGE
ON TUESDAY JUNE 18 2002
“OH YE OF LITTLE
FAITH”
As I write these notes yet
more rain rather reminiscent of the second
half of our third season - which was really
over by the end of November. We had an early
exit from the two Cup competitions and
trailed eventual League Champions Shrewton.
Still we finished a creditable fourth — but
it could have been better. This did have
some effect on our finances though we
finished the season with a welcome surplus
of almost £6,000 swelling our accumulated
funds to £21,100. This is a credit to our
loyal band of supporters in Trowbridge,
Wiltshire and throughout the UK.
Income
dropped by over £1000, but YOUR support for
our fundraising efforts still brought in
over £9,000. Our match admission receipts
held up well. They were bolstered by the
successful season ticket launch with over
50 of you taking up the offer. This
enabled us to pay our ground rental in
advance. Our match day programmed (superbly
produced by editor Andrew Meaden) paid for
itself. It is not easy, however, to attract
sufficient advertising and there will be a
small increase to 5Op a copy for the coming
season. Hopefully we can keep it at this
level for at least a couple of seasons. We
also hope to introduce a two-tier season
ticket this year. There will be one to cover
just the 17 home League matches, or one to
include membership and match programme.
Some members have requested this. Thank you
for your generous contributions to the match
day raffles, and to Eileen and her sales
team! Thanks are also due to the indomitable
David Meaden for his continued efforts with
the N.O.W. Pontoon, and to the Wesley Road
Club team for hosting our social events.
So many of
you — especially those living outside
Wiltshire help us with continued membership,
enrolling in the Friends scheme, and
participating in our End of Season Grand
Draw. We enlisted one hundred Friends whose
names appeared in every programme (just £10
for the season), and the Draw, which was
jointly organised with the Trowbridge Town
Youth Football Club this year had more
prizes and once again proved successful.
Initially the take up appeared to be slow —
hence my wife’s comment “Oh ye of little
faith” when I expressed my early dismay! Now
I am smiling. Hopefully this is the first of
many joint social and fundraising events
with the Youth side. All of your
contributions count — however small. But we
must give a special thanks to Ian Robinson
of Trowbridge who sold £166 worth of tickets
and Peter Sherwood of Warminster who raised
£119.
Most of
our expenditure was concerned with getting a
team onto the pitch and the small overall
increase was in line with inflation.

May 2002 - Alan Roberts, Andy O'Pray &
Ted Miluk Resign
The following statement was
sent to the Wiltshire Times by the club for
publication on Friday 31st May.....
Manager Alan Roberts and his assistants Andy O’Pray and Ted
Miluk are standing down after three
successful years. The new Trowbridge Town
Football Club was formed in 1998 and,
playing at Woodmarsh, the home of the
Trowbridge Town Youth Football Club, won the
Wiltshire Intermediate League in their first
season. Then, following promotion to the
Wiltshire County League they finished sixth
in 2001. This year they
finished fourth despite a season interrupted
by bad weather and cancellations.
The Management Committee
appreciates the efforts of Alan Roberts and
his team, who achieved all that was asked of
them. The Club are now seeking applications
from experienced coaches to build on this
success. Applications to Secretary Nigel
Armstrong, 23, Chelwood Close, Chippenham,
SN 14 OSA by Friday June 21st Further
information can be obtained from Chairman
John Fitchen or Treasurer Roy While (phone
01225 704063).

February 2002 - Site featured on Trowbridge
Net
I am pleased
to report that this site is now featured in
the clubs and organisations section of
Trowbridge Net.
This well
presented site provides links and
information regarding services and
recreation in the Trowbridge and Warminster
areas.
At present,
the business section is more populated but
gradually this site will grow into a useful
source for local information.

22nd December 2001 - Christmas Party
Muriel
Armstrong recently celebrated her 80th
birthday and was presented with a bouquet of
flowers by the Mayor at the TTFC annual
Christmas party. Muriel, still actively
involved in supporting and helping the club
has been a supporter since she was only five
years old.
The live entertainment for the evening
was provided by Budgie and the Tits who
sounded better than ever.
Plus stand-up bingo and a dance competition
hosted by me!
I hope everyone enjoyed the evening, Happy
Christmas and a Happy new year to all.

November 2001 - Injury update.
Goalkeeper
Adam Sheppard, had to leave the field with
an injury at Wroughton but unfortunately
things got worst for him in the week to
come. He was taken to hospital early in the
week following with appendicitis and had to
have a operation. Get well soon, Shep.
Note: See guest book entry from Adam.
(People are always spelling my name Simms
instead of Sims so I know exactly what he
means. All entries on the site have now been
corrected)
Chris Henry missed the game at Biddestone
and is likely to be out until after
Christmas. He suffered a groin injury whilst
playing in a midweek league representative
match.

November 2001 - Important Site information
I have received
the following e-mail which should explain
the recent problems you may have had when
trying to access this site using the
registered domain name:-
www.trowbridgetownfc.co.uk
"The registration body
that I register my domain names through
provides the free forwarding on all my
redirected domains and as of late has been
very unreliable, thus resulting in your
redirection failure over the past few days.
To make amends I am providing
free hosting for you for the next 12 months
to include 250Mb on one of my high speed
commercial servers. Hopefully at the end of
the 12 months the redirection service will
be more reliable or I could offer you an
ultra special price on continuing the
commercial hosting. The big advantage for
you now that you have your domain properly
hosted (rather than pointed at free space)
is that you can get listed on all the major
search engines that will not list sites
redirected or hosted upon free space.
21st October 2001 - Forum Poll Results
As you can see from the results below, there
was a resounding Yes vote for a TTFC forum.
Yes 73%, Might be 16%, No 11%, No Idea,
don't care 0%
A forum will therefore be up and running on
a trial basis soon.

October 2001
Congratulations to
Chris Henry & Adam Nunn.
They have been chosen to represent the
Wiltshire League against a Wiltshire FA
Under 21 team to be played at Corsham Town
on Wed 24th October kick off 7.30pm.
Update: Match finished
2-2, Chris played 90 minutes, Adam played
last 20.
3rd October 2001 - Should this site
include a forum?
I have received a request for a forum so
that people can post rumours about the club.
If I were to set one up it would have to be
a general forum as there probably wouldn't
be enough rumours!
I would be able to monitor the forum and
delete unwanted entries but, there are two
sides to this.
For - It would be a great place to share
opinions and get to know other visitors.
Against - It would cause problems, possibly
involving other clubs.
What do you think, please use this mini poll
to vote....

September 2001 - Marlborough games called
off as mark of respect.
Marlborough Town
called all their games off yesterday as a
mark of respect for Matthew Spencer who was
killed in a car crash earlier in the week.
Matthew's father also plays for the club as
first team goal-keeper.
On behalf of Trowbridge Town FC via this
site, I offer my deepest sympathy to
Matthew's family and to Marlborough Town
Football Club following this sad event.

September 2001 - Please read this if you use
Ltrack.
For some time
now, my Ltrack file has been available for
download on the tables page but I have not
monitored downloads so I don't know if
anybody uses it.
I am thinking of enabling the automatic
update feature but there is no point if
people do not use the files.
Please therefore Email me if you use
Ltrack and would therefore benefit from an
auto update feature.
Thanks.

6th August 2001 - Chance to see
Adie
Nigle Vile supplied the following
information in case any of you would like a
chance to see the hero of Budgie's song in
action...
"Thought Trowbridge fans might like to know
that on 22nd august (Wednesday) Chippenham
are home to Cinderford.
This might be the last chance supporters get
to see Adie Harris playing in this area ....
assuming he's selected to play that evening.
He has been playing in Cinderford's
pre-season friendlies according to the
western daily press who describe Adie as a
"veteran" !"
Thanks Nigel

August 2001 - Pages on the move and delay
during early season updates.
|
Web site pages on
the move..
On 16.08.01 or shortly after
these web pages will be
relocated to another server.
This is because I have signed up
with the Blue Yonder Broadband
Service giving me a permanent
internet connection. This should
not cause any problems for
visitors using the proper
registered domain name (www.trowbridgetownfc.co.uk
) as it will automatically
re-direct and hopefully may even
be quicker! However, if you are
still using or have your
favourites/bookmarks set to the
freeserve address then you will
need to update.
If you need help or if you wish
to discuss the benefits of Blue
Yonder, please feel free to
email me.
Thanks -- Robin |
Updates will be
delayed at start of season..
I
will be on holiday at the start
of the 2001-2002 season and will
therefore miss the first two
weeks. As a result, there will
be no match reports and updates
will be sporadic. Rob
Lloyd-Smith has volunteered to
provide the Wiltshire Times with
match reports during my absence
and I thank Rob in advance for
his help..
I
hope to do a quick site update
on 25th August (between
journeys!) but cannot guarantee
anything until time can be spent
upon my return on 31st August.
Once things are
back to normal, I will be
including all the usual stuff
plus league tables and results
for our new reserve team.
Give 'em a cheer
for me! -- Robin |
19th July
2001 - Friends of Trowbridge Town....
The Friends
of Trowbridge Town Scheme started last year
and has proved to be a successful source of
income for the club. For just £10 per season
your name will be quoted in every home match
day programme as a "friend" of the club, on
a special dedicated page.
The latest entry into this
"hall of fame" is shown below.

Welcome to RANDOLF the first official canine
supporter of Trowbridge Town Football Club
17th July
2001 - AGM news and notes.
The third
TTFC AGM took place at Wesley Road Club
tonight. Reports given by The Secretary,
Chairman & Treasurer and Team Manager, Alan
Roberts were all very positive with thanks
to all club and committee members that have
contributed to the clubs progress.
There were three changes to the Management
Committee, Geoff Osbourne, Mark Edwards &
Eileen Harding replacing Andrew Lye, George
Bright & Andrew Meaden. Chairman, John
Fitchen thanked the retiring officers and
welcomed their replacements.
The other main news on the night was:
-
Season
tickets will be available for the coming
season, priced at £20.
-

Reserve Team will be playing in Division
Two of the Trowbridge & District
League.*

2001 - Important message/appeal from Neil
Kirkpatrick
Neil
Kirkpatrick left the following plea via the
TTFC Guestbook, please help if you can......
"Robin can I ask any supporters via
the website if they can help in any way at
woodmarsh. We need some topsoil and we will
be relaying the goalmouths on wed 18th July
7.00pm There is also loads of strimming
around the ground to be done which can be
done anytime
Thanks for your help"

2001 - Training and friendly update.
The following
friendly have now been added...
14/08/2001 Supporters Team (Provisional
only, to be confirmed)
The players have now started training
including the return of Will Astall and the
two Lea's
I am told that everyone looked fit and can't
wait for the new season!
7th July
2001 - Town sign Lea James & Lea Darby
Perhaps 2001
should have been a LEAp year!
Lea James who was always a favourite when
Trowbridge were in the Southern League and
Lea Darby, also an ex bee have rejoined our
club.
Lea James, related to our goalkeeping coach,
Ian Diamond played at Wembley for Chippenham
in the Vase final and also played a major
part in their successful promotion to the
Southern League last season. He has decided
to join Trowbridge as the clubs in the
Wiltshire League are more local and it
should be easier for him to combine his
football with work commitments.
These two signings are seen as a major boost
towards our aim of winning the Wiltshire
League and progressing to the Western
League.
Welcome back!
3rd July
2001 - Addkey Senior Cup Draw
Only two teams
need to contest the preliminary round of the
Addkey Senior Cup and Trowbridge have been

The full draw and the date for this match
will be published as soon as further
information is obtained.
