Budgie and the Tits launched the Adie Harris tribute CD in the Mash Tun tonight. They performed a few of their own songs just to get the atmosphere right and then after a short introduction, TTFC treasurer Roy While pressed the play button to mark the official launch. Everyone soon joined in with the chorus and Robin Sims and Dave Meaden joined the band on stage to help (or perhaps hinder) with the singing. The CD is available for £3.99 and has been personally signed by Adie Harris. If anyone is interested in purchasing the CD, please see Budgie himself, a member of the committee or simply send me and email. 28th March 2001 - Where's the ground at Hilperton? Lyrics are © Budgie Brewer 2001 and are reproduced with permission 22nd February 2001 - Domain name and guestbook sorted. Well, I finally got around to having a proper domain name. www.trowbridgetownfc.co.uk is certainly easier to remember and to tell your friends. I thought it was about time we had a guest book too, so I've set one up using Bravenet's excellent free web services. If you have been a regular visitor to these pages or even if it is your first time here, please take time to sign it I originally set these pages up for a bit of fun and to convey TTFC news as quickly as possible but it's nice to get feedback and to know that the site has become a useful service. Robin 19th February 2001 - The following message was received from Brent Murden following our 3-1 win at Purton.... "On behalf of the lads, we'd like to thank you for the great support on Saturday at Purton, hope to see everybody at Bradford next Saturday for our next three points . Hope the ref's a bit better. Cheers, Murdo" Thanks for contacting
us Brent, well played. 6th February 2001 - Glory for Gloria? Gloria Hambly, a loyal supporter and member of our Social & Fund Raising Committee, recently broke her ankle following a fall on the ice. This seems to fit in nicely with our injury crises earlier in the season! :-) The TTFC Committee received the following "good news" e-mail from her son, Ian. "Just a short note to say Trowbridge Town's Number 1 supporter Gloria Hambly is doing well after her operation on a broken ankle, and is thinking of the Town even though she can't be there herself for a while." I'm sure all supporters and everyone associated with the club wish Gloria a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her out and about soon 24th January 2001 - Trowbridge Town Youth now host their own pages. Trowbridge Town youth now host their own pages and any mail or feedback should now be sent direct. You can view the new site on http://www.ttyfc.fsnet.co.uk/ I have been happy to host their pages in the past but updates were very rare as I was not directly involved. I therefore see this as very good news and wish our youth sides and the new site best wishes for the future. 19th January 2001 - Help on the pitch requested... Neil Kirkpartick has asked for help via this site for help on the pitch..... "On behalf of TTYFC can I through your website ask if any supporters could help at half time and full time by spending 10 minutes replacing divots. This would help the pitch greatly and maintain a fine playing surface so we can play our usual brand of total football." No pitch invasions please!, but if people would like to help I'm sure the players would appreciate it. 7th January 2001 - Get well Alan. :-) The following message was received today from Brent Murden.....
"the players
of trowbridge town would like to wish Alan
Roberts a get well soon message
after his
recent food poisoning before the Melksham game

Nice to receive an e-mail from a player, keep 'em coming lads..... Robin 3rd January 2001 - Will the real Chris Tricker please stand up! Trowbridge Town have a new "supporter". I have received an e-mail from a Chris Tricker wishing our Chris Tricker a happy new year and passing on his best wishes for 2001 and the rest of the season. This Chris lives in Worthing, West Sussex and found our site by searching for his name on the web! Happy new year Chris, and thanks for contacting us. 27th December 2000 - Update on our search for a new ground - Thanks to Andrew Lye for this info.. One of the most common questions asked of a Committee member is "Well, what is happening about finding another ground for the Football Club?" There is news to report, though the result is rather disappointing, to say the least. There have been a couple of meetings with Trowbridge Town Council and the last one in November brought to everyone's attention, the sale of 5 lots of land in North Bradley. The one that was most promising was lot 4, just over 18 acres. It is opposite the road from the Woodmarsh ground. The land is in the rural buffer zone which under planning policy cannot be developed for housing or industry and is designed to prevent the coalesence of Trowbridge and North Bradley. It was agreed by all present that it was worth pursuing. It was too late to be formally discussed at the Trowbridge Town Council meeting on Tuesday 21st November as the agenda had already gone out. It was informally mentioned and it was stated that an Extraordinary Meeting of the Town Council would meet to discuss the land, on Friday 24th November as the sale was to take place by auction on Monday 27th November at 7pm. As the possible purchase of land was commercially sensitive, the meeting was held in closed session and after a lengthy debate, it was agreed to attempt to purchase the land for possible development at a future date for sports pitches as the Town Council are committed to providing such facilities in Trowbridge as there is a widely recognised shortage of such facilities in the town. It MUST be stressed that no commitment was made by the Town Council that if successful, part of the land will become a new home for the Football Club. That would have to be decided at a later date. During the debate, from the information available, the land was classed as agricultural land with a possible value of £2000 an acre. As the land was valuable to the aims of the Town Council, it was agreed to seek a possible sale before auction, up to the value of £50,000 in total. If a pre-auction sale could not be concluded, the Council's agent could bid up to £100,000. It was agreed to appoint local agent, Robert Quartley, to represent the Council. Robert is also on the Management Committee of the Football Club. The end result was that it was not possible to agree to a pre-auction sale and the bidding was between the Council and another party. The lot in question was sold at public auction for £105,000. The successful bidder bought ALL 5 lots. The lot was effectively sold for just under £6000 an acre. Trowbridge Town Councillor and Management Committee member, Andrew Lye said "The possible purchase of this land would have been brilliant for Trowbridge had we been successful and I am very upset and sorry that we were unsuccessful as its not often that land comes up for sale, that could have been developed into sports pitches. I must also add that whilst it was clearly stressed that had the Council succeeded in purchasing the land, the issue of whether part of the land would have been made available to the Football Club was not up for discussion. In the meantime, the Town Council AND the Football Club are working together to try to identify a piece of land, to develop. I am sure that we are all disappointed that we were unsuccessful and I understand that the purchaser was prepared to outbid us, to get the land. The search continues." 04th December 2000 - Jerad O'Pray back for Trowbridge Town! I have today been reliably informed that Jerad O'Pray who was a vital member of our Championship winning side last season has re-joined the club and will be available for our next fixture. Let's hope the rain stops! Welcome back Jerad, Christmas has come early for Trowbridge! 21st October 2000 - Report and Pictures from Wembley The day out at
Wembley last Sunday proved to be very enjoyable.
Roger's Rovers, wearing white and captained by Roger
Black, lost 1-0 to the reds, Tom's Coxless XV. The
winning goal was scored by Dermot Reeves with a side
foot into an empty net during the second half.
Everyone was a winner on the day though, with the
players fulfilling a lifelong ambition and the
spectators sitting in the Royal Box! 6th October 2000 - Wemberleeey! Neil Kirkpatrick has been successful with a bid to play one of the last games on the hallowed turf of Wembley. He is to join Andrew Meaden in a team including Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and captain Roger Black (Athletics) against a side including Dermot Reeves (Cricket) and Tim Foster (Rowing) as captain of their opponents. A coach has been arranged if anyone wishes to attend this historic and unique occasion on Sunday 15th October. This will leave the Mash Tun at 8.30am, The Fire Station at 8.40am return at 7pm Cost is £7 all enquiries to Andrew on 0771 3392933 |

Budgie
Brewer and some fellow Trowbridge Town fans have a
band known as BUDGIE AND THE TITS and they have come
up with a tribute song to our never forgotten hero,
Adie Harris. They are to perform the song live at
our end of season dance and the song will be
available on CD. The song was mixed by local
musicians Max Bisgrove and Chris Goulstone who can
normally be found working with the Corrs & BBC
respectively and have now added Budgie and the Tits
to their list of credits. :-)) The catchy number
could easily become the clubs' signature tune and I
can hear the lads behind the goal singing the chorus
already. Proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to
the club and no true TTFC supporter will be able to
go without it. To hear the words recollecting
the talents of our wizard winger you will have to
attend the dance and/or by this unique CD..
